Privacy Policy

BrowserProbe, a product of Meritin Technologies, LLC ("we", "us"), helps you test a browser, device and network and share the results. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We built the product to collect as little as possible.

The scan itself

Probes run locally in your browser. A scan isn't stored anywhere unless you choose to share it. Sharing creates a results page at a private link. Shared pages never include your IP address or other raw connection details unless the account that owns the check page opts in.

Internet provider lookup

Some scans include an "Internet provider" probe that identifies the network operator behind your connection. That lookup happens entirely on our servers against a local copy of a licensed database; your IP address is never sent to the database vendor or any other third party, and the result follows the same rule as every other probe: nothing is stored unless you share. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.

Account information

If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and the test profiles and results in your workspace, so we can provide the service, sign you in, and send essential account email (verification, security, billing). Account email is delivered through Azure Communication Services.

Payments

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers; we keep only the subscription status needed to manage your plan.

Analytics

For site analytics we use Plausible, a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that collects no personal data and does no cross-site tracking. It runs only on our own pages, never on white-labeled customer pages. And yes, it's exactly the kind of script our own tracker probes would flag.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies: to keep you signed in and to protect forms against forgery. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there's nothing to opt into.

How long we keep data

Saved and shared results are kept for the retention window of the account's plan, then deleted automatically. Anonymous shared results age out on the free window. You can delete your account and its data at any time.

Who processes your data

We host on Microsoft Azure in the United States. Our processors are Microsoft Azure (hosting and email), Stripe (payments) and Plausible (analytics). We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.

White-labeled check pages

When you run a check on a business's branded page, that business is responsible for its own privacy practices and is the controller of that interaction. Our site analytics do not run on those pages.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you can request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal data, and object to certain processing. Email us at admin@meritin.com and we'll respond.

Children

BrowserProbe isn't directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA), and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.
